Due to globalization and cross-national and cross-cultural interaction, multilingualism is gaining importance worldwide. Writing, as the most important medium of communication, is taking on a prominent role. Designers are increasingly faced with the challenge of designing not just different languages, but two or even more writing systems together.

Bi-Scriptual begins on a more theoretical level, addressing issues such as the sociocultural relationships between different writing systems and the increasing importance of sociocultural communication. Following a general section on the practice of bilingual design, experts in the respective languages examine eight writing systems in relation to the Latin script. This section also includes interviews on the topic and work examples from over 100 designers that demonstrate the various possibilities for designing with multiple writing systems alongside one another.
