In the cosmos of typography and graphic design, something new happens every day, and something new is created. This carefully curated volume collects the most inspiring, groundbreaking, and lasting stories, events, and trends of a year: 52 stories for 52 weeks. Over 40 industry experts share their views and guide readers to the highlights of the typography world.
Books will be presented, including the publication of the legendary 1975 NASA Graphic Standards Manual, and positions in book design will be discussed. New typefaces, type designers, and foundries will be introduced, classic American fonts will be reinterpreted—and the question of why new typefaces always need to be created will be explored. Furthermore, significant new logos will be discussed, major industry events such as Typo Berlin and the winners of the European Design Award. And a tribute will be paid to Adrian Frutiger and the great actor Alan Rickman, who also once worked as a graphic designer.
